Camellia Show

January 4 (1 pm - 5 pm) & 5 (9 am - 4 pm), 2020


In January, this two day event features prize-winning camellias of all sizes, shapes, and colors. There will be judged exhibits of japonicas, reticulatas, hybrids, and species. Included with regular admission into the garden.

Bamboo Sale

Every winter, Kanapaha holds an Annual Winter Bamboo Sale. In January, Kanapaha issues a descriptive sales/availability listing of bamboos that are being offered during January and February on a dug-to-order basis.


Spring Garden Festival

This is Gainesville's premier horticultural event. The Spring Garden Festival features about 125 booths offering plants, landscape displays, garden accessories, arts and crafts, educational exhibits and, of course, foods. Also featured are live entertainment and live auctions. The children's area is included with the admission price and includes potting up a plant to take home, a photo opportunity, a bean bag toss, and many arts and crafts.   Pets are not allowed at these festivals.

Moonlight Walk

Kanapaha's Moonlight Walk is a magical experience where there will be laser lights and approximately 1500 luminaries along a 1.25 mile walkway. There will also be live entertainment and the Alachua Astronomy Club will be out with telescopes to view the cosmos. Vendors will be out selling food and refreshments! Feel free to bring out a picnic basket, blanket or lawn chairs.  Pets are not allowed at these festivals.   

Fall Plant Sale & Orchid...

Each October, Kanapaha Botanical Gardens holds an Open House & Fall Plant Sale, in conjunction with the Gainesville Orchid Society, inviting visitors to see the facility ADMISSION FREE. In addition to viewing the botanical gardens, approximately 50 booth will be set up selling a wide variety of plants. The American Orchid Society will have their annual American Orchid Society's judged show that will coincide with the Fall Plant Sale and will take place inside Kanapaha's entrance building.   Pets are not allowed at these festivals.

How to order...


Orders for bamboo may be phoned in to 352-372-4981 starting January 6th. Buyers will be advised of the date orders will be ready for pickup and payment will be needed when orders are placed. There are no refunds issued after the bamboo has been dug. Bamboo Sale is in January and February only. Order are prioritized by the date the customer is willing to come pickup the bamboo since some orders may exceed availability. Last day for placing orders is February 10th and the last day for picking up bamboo is February 14th. MORE DETAILS
