KIDS' DAY: TBA 2016

This event is focused on fun for kids ages 13 and under! Here is what to expect:

-sea mobile with marine life touch station

-3 dry bounce houses

-3 water slide bounce houses, so make sure to wear bathing suits and bring towels

-obstacle course bounce house

-choo choo train from 12pm - 5pm for kids and their parents riding through parts of the gardens

-gyroscope from 12pm - 5pm

-waterproof face painting with Anna from Frozen. Picture opportunities with her as well. 1pm - 5pm

-cash or check only, PLEASE no credit cards!! Food and drinks will be available to purchase.

-parents must supervise their children

PAINT OUT: TBD 2016

Local landscape artists will be gathering to create live paintings at Kanapaha Botanical Gardens. The 3 day event is part of the 13th Worldwide Artist Paint Out, linking artists and locations all over the world and promoting art as a universal language that has no borders. The lush settings and vistas of Kanapaha Gardens will offer the artists an abundance of inspiration. The gardens have long been a muse for the local creative community, and hosted in 2002 one of the very first paint outs in Florida. Since then, these events have seen an explosion of popularity and patronage. Come join us! Witness the mysterious creative process as you stroll through the gardens from artist to artist. They will marvel you with their sleight of hand as they magically create masterpieces before your very eyes! Regular admission price for non-members and members are admitted free of charge.

FALL PLANT SALE AND ORCHID SHOW: OCTOBER 22 & 23 (9am-5pm) 2016

Each October, Kanapaha Botanical Gardens holds an Open House & Fall Plant Sale, in conjunction with the Gainesville Orchid Society, inviting visitors to see the facility ADMISSION FREE. Kanapaha Botanical Gardens formally opened to the public in October of 1987 and the Open House is a means of celebrating our 'birthday.' In addition to viewing the botanical gardens, approximately 50 booth will be set up selling a wide variety of plants. The American Orchid Society will have their annual American Orchid Society's judged show that will coincide with the Fall Plant Sale and will take place inside Kanapaha's entrance building. Bring cash because most vendors do not accept credit cards. Pets are not allowed at these festivals. For more info, click here

BAMBOO SALE: JANUARY - FEBRUARY 20, 2017

Every winter, Kanapaha holds an Annual Winter Bamboo Sale. In December, Kanapaha issues a descriptive sales/availability listing of bamboos that are being offered during January and February on a dug-to-order basis.

How to order...

Orders for bamboo may be phoned in to 352-372-4981. Buyers will be advised of the date orders will be ready for pickup and payment will be needed when orders are placed. There are no refunds issued after the bamboo has been dug. Bamboo Sale is in January and February only. Order are prioritized by the date the customer is willing to come pickup the bamboo since some orders may exceed availability. Last day for placing orders is February 20nd and the last day for picking up bamboo is February 27th. For more info, click here


CAMELLIA SHOW: JANUARY 7 (1pm - 5pm) & 8 (9am - 5pm), 2017

This two day event features prize-winning camellias of all sizes, shapes, and colors. There will be judged exhibits of japonicas, reticulatas, hybrids, and species. In addition to their outstanding winter beauty, some of the varieties are fragrant. This show is geared toward educating the public about the care, culture, and appreciation of camellias, both in the greenhouse and in the landscape. SPRING GARDEN FESTIVAL: MARCH 18 (9am - 5pm) & 19 (10am - 5pm) 2017

This is Gainesville's premier horticultural event. The Spring Garden Festival features about 175 booths offering plants, landscape displays, garden accessories, arts and crafts, educational exhibits and, of course, foods. Also featured are live entertainment and live auctions. The children's area is included with the admission price and includes potting up a plant to take home, a photo opportunity, a bean bag toss, and many arts and crafts, such a making a tissue paper butterfly, newspaper hats, and coke bottle flowers. Parking is free and two off-site parking areas are serviced by shuttle buses. Admission is $8 for Adults and $5 for children three to thirteen. Cash only (no credit cards) at these events. A $2 discount is given for members of Kanapaha. No pets allowed during the festival please. We are no longer accepting vendors for this event. For more info, click here


MOONLIGHT WALK: MAY 6 (7m - 11pm) 2017

Kanapaha's Moonlight Walk is a magical experience where there will be twinkle lights, lanterns, and approximately 1500 luminaries along a 1.25 mile walkway. There will also be live entertainment, food, and refreshments. Feel free to bring out a blanket or lawn chairs. The Alachua Astronomy Club will be out with telescopes to view the cosmos. No pets allowed during this event. Please bring a flashlight. Please bring cash no credit cards. Please note we close from 5pm-7pm the day of the Moonlight Walk. For more info, click here
